Who we are

Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) New York was established on December 19, 1999, and changed its name to HURIA KRISTEN BATAK PROTESTAN (HKBP) LUTHERAN CHURCH NEW YORK on April 27, 2007 following an Employer Identification Number (EIN) assignation letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). But since October 20, 2009 had changed back to its original name Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP).

HKBP New York shall be an interdependent part of the Head Quarter of Huria Kristen Batak Protestan in Indonesia or its successor. Also, HKBP New York acknowledges its relationship with the head quarter of Huria Kristen Batak Protestan in Indonesia.

Our Vision

HKBP New York evolved into an inclusive church, dialogue and open, as well as capable and powerful developing quality of life in the love of the Jesus Christ, together with all the people in the global community, especially the Christian community, for the glory of God the Father almighty.

Our Mission

HKBP New York trying to improve the quality of the congregation, through qualified church services to be able to perform the mandate of the Jesus Christ in personal life, family life, and community life, to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Our Principle

To carry out the mission towards the vision mentioned above, HKBP New York keep up to the principle below:

  • To serve, not be served (Mark 10: 45)
  • Being salt and light (Matthew 5: 13-14)
  • Upholding justice, peace and the integrity of creation (Mark 16: 15 and Luke 4: 18-19)

Legal

HKBP New York is a religious based organization, whose tax-exempt status was approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 501(c)(3) of the Tax Code.
